Holiday of a lifetime…

With the hassle of the festive season just about to kick off, I thought I’d take a few minutes to bypass the horrors of Christmas and family gatherings, to concentrate on 2010 and all the joys that it will hopefully bring.

2009 hasn’t exactly been the easiest of years; in fact for a lot of people it’s been pretty rough. 2009 will always be remembered as a year of global recession, the year that Barack Obama became the 44th President of the United States and sadly, the year that MJ moon-walked to the great beyond.

Despite the ever-increasing troubles across the world, it feels like things might actually be different in 2010. So with that thought firmly in mind, it’s time to look ahead and concentrate on the good things.

This year for the first time in a decade I have decided to go on holiday. I haven’t fully finalised my plans yet, but it looks more and more likely that I will be heading to the US sometime around May. The vague plan at the moment is to arrange some sort of road trip, USA car hire is relatively inexpensive so that’s not an issue; the main headache is choosing a starting destination and a finishing location.

I originally planned to drive across the US down the historic Route 66 highway, but I don’t think I will really have that much time. Another idea was to head down from California and cross over into Mexico, but again time is a factor. At the moment I am leaning towards visiting Florida, after all its’ got the sun, the sea, the hotties and Disneyland!

The current plan is to fly into Florida, most likely spend a few days doing Disneyland and Sea World etc. Once that’s out the way I will organise car hire in Orlando, drive on down past the Everglades and into Miami for a few days of sun, sea and party. I think to top it off I will drive down to the Florida Keys, I’ve always wanted to drive down that big bridge that goes out across the sea. Once I’m there I think I’ll try a bit of fishing and do some snorkelling in the reefs.
