Culture, activity or complete chillaxation – Which holiday would you choose?

People often like to do completely different things when they go on holiday. Some simply go to sit beside the pool all day and drink Margaritas, some prefer a more adventurous adrenaline filled vacation and others go for the whole tourist sight-seeing buzz. It all comes down to what sort of person you are, what you feel like doing and what your intentions are. Of course location also has a big impact on what sort of vacation you want to have.

Culture

Most people think ‘oh yeah culture, great. Yawn…’, but culture doesn’t just mean going out and finding the nearest ruined mud hut or trawling through the museum of 19th century cloth scraps. A culture holiday is whatever you make it really, if the history of saucepans is something you’re keen on then what the hell go crazy and visit that museum, but for me culture is more about visiting a foreign country and experiencing things that make that country unique like eating tapas, having a siesta or licking some goo off of the back of some toad. However, don’t get me wrong the occasional bit of sight seeing is often a must. One of the most cultural cities to visit is Amsterdam, it has a varied and vibrant night life and there’s a lot to see and do. To get around the city and the surrounding area it’s best to arrange car hire in Amsterdam, that or go completely native and get yourself a bike.

Activity

Thrill seeking, adrenaline-loving, cliff-hanging base jumping mofo’s like nothing more than heading abroad looking for the next big rush. Adventure holidays are a relatively new phenomenon. Within the last 10 years they have become increasingly more popular especially amongst younger families. Adventure holidays can contain a whole range of activities including water-sports like surfing, kayaking and windsurfing, or other activities like potholing, climbing or skiing. Once again adventure holidays are all about what you make of them, if you’re willing to push the limits then you’re certainly going to experience one hell of a ride. Adventure holidays don’t always have to revolve around danger and adrenaline some are more sedate like hiking in Morocco or cycling through southern France.

Chillaxation

After 6 months of hard work perhaps the only thing you really want to do on holiday is relax. With the UK currency in such a dismal state the best way to get your moneys worth abroad is to go all inclusive. All inclusive holidays are a great way to remove some of the additional stresses and hazards from your holiday. Most European resorts offer full all-inclusive packages that provide holidaymakers with full access to the bar, restaurant and facilities. So if your idea of a holiday is complete relaxation, cocktails and the odd spa here and there, then all-inclusive is definitely for you. If your idea of a sedate holiday is a week or two of sun, sea and golf then you may want to check out a few resorts in Marbella, Spain. Marbella is well known for its wide range of courses and it boasts some of Europe’s best greens. Getting around can be tricky so it’s best to arrange car hire in Marbella to get full access to all the best spots.
